“What if?” is a question the company has encouraged its employees to ask ever since it led to the creation of HCA Healthcare 50 years ago.
HCA Healthcare colleagues submit hundreds of ideas for advancing health and patient care every year and all are reviewed and considered. Many are implemented.
The HCA Innovators Award was created in 2010 to recognize the company’s innovative thinkers. The award itself, the crystal “Tommy,” is designed in tribute to HCA Healthcare co-founder Dr. Thomas Frist, Jr.
“Innovation inside of HCA Healthcare is a key component of what differentiates our company,” says Sam Hazen, president and chief operating officer. “Across the company, our employees are constantly finding ways to solve problems or improve things. These innovations help us improve patient satisfaction, deliver higher quality outcomes, improve our nursing operations, engage our physicians and generate growth.”
